WMMBA is back with another exciting update from Johnson Park!

With nearly 5 miles of trail now roughed in, this Kent County Parks project is coming together with incredible momentum. The leaves are on the trees, creating a beautiful canopy over some of West Michigan's best mountain bike trail topography. Scenic views, fun terrain, adventure, and flow—this trail system is shaping up to be something special.

As shown in the latest trail progress graphic, most of the Green Loop and a significant portion of the Blue XC trails have had features updated, dirt shaped, and tread smoothed into ride-ready condition. Every week brings noticeable progress.

This week we celebrated Phase 2 of our fundraising campaign surpassing $100,000 raised. Thanks to the generosity of more than 100 individual donors and the support of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., the bonus 2-mile trail expansion is officially a go.

Representatives from Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. and The Kent County Parks Foundation recently received a sneak peek of the project and saw firsthand the potential this destination holds. More than just a mountain bike trail system, Johnson Park will serve as a central hub for outdoor recreation with connections to the Grand River Greenway and opportunities for hikers, walkers, trail runners, adaptive cyclists, and mountain bikers of all ages and abilities.

Everyone is going to love this space.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter helping bring this vision to life. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building West Michigan's next great outdoor destination.
